NICK OSHANSKI - CD We deeply mourn the passing of our husband, father and GranPa, on the evening of June 22, 2004, at the age of 78. Nick is survived by Kay, his loving wife of 55 years; his daughter Donna Phillips (Keith) son John; grandsons, Kristopher, Kyle and Chad; and four sisters; three brothers; and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Phillip and Anne, one sister and four brothers. At the age of 17, Nick enlisted in the army and served in North-Western Europe with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada during the Second World War. In 1950 he re-enlisted with the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry and served in the Korean War. After his return to Canada he was employed by Canada Post and Canada Customs & Excise, retiring after 32 years of service. He also joined the Cameron Highlanders Militia, retiring in 1975 as District Regimental Sergeant Major (CWO). Nick was a longtime member of both the Cameron and Patricia Associations, and the Royal Canadian Legion, Elmwood Branch No. 9. Nicks pleasures were his family, gardening, quiet times in the sunshine and lending a generous hand to all. His personal legacy will be the museums and veterans who proudly display their military medals, finished and mounted by him. The family extends grateful thanks to the staff of Riverview Health Centre, Ward 3E, for their compassion and excellent care in his final days. Many thanks also for the support of all friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nicks memory to CancerCare Manitoba (Palliative Care), Room 1160, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. In keeping with Nicks wishes, cremation has already taken place, and there will be no formal service. A family graveside service will take place on Tuesday, June 29 at 2:00 p.m., at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. in Winnipeg. "Always in our hearts" Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca.
